About Coach Jen

In a nutshell, I am a middle aged, mother of 3 (and grandmother of 1!) who enjoys physical activity of any sort, historical fiction, horses, plants, art, music and, of course, sharing my passion for health & fitness. I was a "late bloomer" who didn't start taking my own health and wellness very seriously until I was in my mid-30's, at which point I experienced exactly what "fitness" could do to transform a person (and it went far beyond anything I had expected). I quickly learned that it has the power to invigorate you mentally, physically and spiritually in a way that can completely change your life. It may not be as intense an experience for everyone but it removed all doubt regarding its value for me and is ultimately what drove me to pursue a career in the industry. I have never looked back. 


Since then I have become nationally certified as a personal trainer, orthopedic exercise specialist, nutrition coach and certified functional strength coach with an acquired 10 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. Though less formal, I consider my personal background a more unique qualification as it has allowed me to coach beginners or individuals who have had a lot of "time off" with geniune empathy.  But, ultimately, I measure my success by my ability to bring out the best in my clients by challenging them in a manner that is appropriate to their individual skill level while keeping things fresh, exhilirating and lighthearted so they learn to embrace it at a rewarding experience that they can truly enjoy. 


My approaches are challenging but practical and my coaching does not overlook the aspects of fitness that expand beyond just burning calories and building great biceps. Skills that reinforce "deep health", like proper nutrition, lifestyle & stress management and recovery are also coached regularly. I currently work with a variety of extremely cool individuals from various backgrounds and experience levels who are generally just looking to live their best life and see health, fitness and the ability to function optimally as an important piece of the puzzle. ​
